Highline College’s Phi Theta Kappa (PTK) chapter organized a Thanksgiving food drive that ran from Nov. 4 to Nov. 18., they collected all their food and bagged it before donating it. By the end of the bagging process we had collected 48 bags full of groceries – a new record! It was a great opportunity to participate in the collection of food for our low income families at Highline College.
I currently serve as the communications officer for the PTK, chapter at Highline, in my position I was able to promote the drive and ensure as many members of staff, faculty and students were aware of the drive and were contributing to our noble cause. It was an exciting yet humbling experience and the results speak for themselves.
This is an annual event that takes place every year, we are planning to raise double the amount of food we raised this year, we hope to feed about 100 Highline Community families and we have started to come up with different ways and avenues to collect more food. I cannot wait to be part of tis food drive next year, it is always a joy giving back to others and bringing hope and smiles to less fortunate families.
