MAYOR JIM FERELL MEETS NYOKABI MUNYAKA
Mayor Ferrell has worked to bring businesses to Federal Way, revitalize downtown, and enhance the quality of life of this outstanding community by Creating Town Square Park, which serves as the “beating heart” of our community, opening a downtown Police substation, dedicating 60-foot flagpole downtown and designating Way, in addition to the efforts above, Mayor Ferrell believes government works best when it’s guided by the voice of the people. He introduced several efforts to increase resident access to their municipal government. With improved transparency and community outreach efforts like the well attended Neighborhood Connections and New Day Federal Way, our community has many new ways to connect with their City.
Other than being a Mayor of action he sits and represents our city of Federal Way in various Regional committees such as Puget South correctional Entity Regional jail board of directors, Prior to being elected mayor, Jim Ferrell served as a King County Senior Deputy Prosecutor, defending victims of crime. He served ten years on the Federal Way City Council from 2003 until 2013. In 2009, he led a successful grassroots effort to persuade voters to change the City’s form of government from Council/Manager to an elected mayor system.
It was such an honor for a man with such great accomplishments to give me audience in his office at City Hall Federal Way, after running in to him at Highline College and sharing my story with him he immediately set up a time for me to come to his office to discuss issues pertaining bringing the African community together in federal way. Mayor Jim Ferell is committed to keeping the city safe and the community united, during our meeting together we got to discuss how best we can bring the African community together and to be more involved in the city’s activities. He assured me that it is his number one priority that his citizens feel safe and secure in their homes and fell welcome and wanted. It was an honor to be in his presence and for him to give a commitment to all communities in the city of federal way.
